Weight Loss After Pregnancy

May 3rd, 2008 by admin

After having put on those extra pounds during pregnancy a few women are dejected and feel they would never be able to come back to shape.

is something that requires a little bit of perseverance as well as patience and that’s about it.

As soon as the baby is born some of the pounds do go off attributed to the baby , the placenta, the amniotic fluid. Be optimistic - you’ve already started weight loss after pregnancy!

Not many women may be aware but breast feeding the baby helps lose weight. So you lose weight here without much effort while the baby gets all the needed nutrition from mother’s milk.

The uterus gradually shrinks back to its original size and you see that change yourself in your body shape and weight.

Now come the remaining extra pounds that need to be gotten rid of. If you have eaten healthy during pregnancy and been careful you would not have put on too much not needed pounds. Please refer to Pregnancy - Weight Gain. However if you have not, nothings still lost, you can always lose those extra fat!

Since you are breast feeding, dieting/fad diets are not recommended. You just need to eat correct nutrition rich food. You and the baby both need enough nutrition at this time. Just watch out that the food has all the nutrients, proteins, calories as needed but no extra unnecessary fat content.

You would be on your toes with your little one and this may seem difficult, but exercising regularly should get incorporated in your days. When you should start exercising and if you could start with all kinds of exercises may again be discussed with your doctor. For example after a caeserian section you may be disallowed certain exercise for sometime.

Avoid missing out on exercising. Avoid junk food and high fat food. These are easy picks if you have been busy with the baby and are tempted to pick on easily available food than having the patience to whip up something more decent for yourself.

The weigh loss process you would notice would be steady - no magical/instant results. Perseverance is the key and if you have that you sure would reach your pre-birth weight in around eight to ten months.
