Three months old baby’s development

1 month to 3 months

Three months old baby’s  Motor skills:

1. Head erect and steady
2. Lifts head
3. Hands predominantly open
4. Turns from side to back
5. Elevates self by arms

Three months old baby’s Sensory skills:


1. Circular eye coordination
2. Turns eye to light
3. Searches with eye for sound
4. Eyes follow object
5. Plays with rattle
5. Inspects surroundings

Three months old baby’s Communication skills:

Responds to smile and talk by vocalizing

Three months old baby’s Social skills:

Gives smile to talk or smile

The 2-month-old’s social traits including:

* Showing distress and delight and calm themselves with sucking.
* Quieting with cuddling or holding, voice, or familiar faces.
* Staying awake longer if interacting with people.
* Sleeping as long as 7 hours at night, and is awake as long as 10 hours a day.
* Feeding only one time during the night.
* Enjoying a bath.

The 3-month-old’s mental abilities include:

* Hearing and seeing approach maturity.
* Can interact with parent for 15 or 30 minutes at a time.
* Glancing from one object to another.
* Swiping at an object with a fist or reaching with both hands.
* Using hands and mouth to explore objects and enjoys gumming.

Like they did as newborns, most babies grow quickly in weight and length during the first few months of life.
