Java Books

The resources for java on the net are unlimited. But if you are looking at owning some java books and trying to decide Which java book(s) to own, here are some recommendations.
As a software professional for 9 years, with almost 6 years on Java, these are some of the java books I have spent time on and my brief book reviews -
Java Books that I have spent time on include
1. Java 2 - The complete reference by Herbert Schildt
This java book is good for some quick early syntax grab and ready code. Not the best one if you want to have all your concepts straight.
2. Thinking in java by Bruce Eckel
This java book provides Good concepts but not the best one to go in for if you are a starter. There is long drawn theoretical concepts - you need patience to read through this java book.
3. Core Java, Volume 1-Fundamentals By Cay S. Horstmann and Gary Cornell
In this java book- Concepts and code go hand in hand. Precise, clear concepts; easy to read and understand; good real world code examples.
4. Core Java volume 2 By Cay S. Horstmann and Gary Cornell
5. Headfirst Java by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates - Object Oriented Analysis and programming is interwoven with java. Not for someone focussed at learning Java as a programmimg language but a must read for someone who wants to concentrate on Object Oriented programing with Java.
I would personally recommend Core Java, Volume 1-Fundamentals By Cay S. Horstmann and Gary Cornell and the Volume 2 as the first choice and the other books may follow to suit specific needs.
